Special Lecture

Hamilton and the Economics of Slavery

Presented by Robert E. Wright
Doors open at 6:00pm

Dr. Wright addresses a discussion related to the economics of slavery, with findings included in two recent books, The Poverty of Slavery: How Unfree Labor Pollutes the Economy, and, One Nation Under Debt: Hamilton, Jefferson, and the History of What we Owe. Dr. Wright explores the economic angle to a traditionally moral argument, demonstrating that slavery has never promoted economic growth or development, neither today nor in the past.
