Flag Day Celebration & Open House

  • Fraunces Tavern® Museum 54 Pearl Street New York, NY, 10004 United States (map)

Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. While not a federal holiday, this special day is observed across the nation, from small towns to big cities. Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York, Inc. (SRNY) has celebrated Flag Day since 1916.

This year, we invite you to celebrate with us at the Museum on Friday, June 10th during our Flag Day Open House. Museum admission is $1 from 12:00pm-5:00PM and will include special U.S. flag giveaways. There will be a reception and brief remarks from Sons of the Revolution beginning at 12:30 in the Kathryn & Shelby Cullom Davis Educational Center for American History. The Center’s current exhibition, To the Beat of Their Own Drums, American Regimental Flags of the Revolutionary War, features the 1777 resolution and early versions of the American flag as well as our current 50-star U.S. flag. Additional historic flags from the Museum’s collection will also be on display and children will be able to design their own flags.
