American Single Malt: The Next Big Thing in Whiskey

  • Fraunces Tavern® Museum 54 Pearl Street New York, NY, 10004 United States (map)

Join us to explore the rich history and exciting future of American whiskey with expert educator Lia Niskanen, founder of Barrel Strength Talent. This 45-minute educational experience and whiskey tasting will take you on a journey through the history of whiskey in America, from its 18th-century beginnings and the Whiskey Rebellion, through Prohibition and Bourbon’s official recognition in 1964.

You'll learn how these events led to a new frontier in whiskey-making: American Single Malt Whiskey, which has now been officially recognized by federal regulators for the first time in over 50 years. The program will also touch on the new and exciting work of contemporary whiskey makers, who are pushing the boundaries of traditional whiskey-making with new ingredients, new techniques, and a new spirit of creativity.

The program includes a specially curated five-whiskey tasting flight, which will allow you to taste a variety of whiskeys while learning more about American Single Malt. Engage with this new whiskey movement — one of the fastest-growing in the world — through taste, storytelling, and history!
